Best of the best web hosting ecommerce sites

by Jeff 6. May 2009 21:23

Best of the best web hosting ecommerce sites, the search begins.

OK! I'm decided I need to setup an ecommerce site for some products products I own resale rights to but I don't know enough about the ecommerce hosting sites to choose one. So I need to dig a little and maybe find a good ecommerce hosting provider, one that will not charge a lot for web hosting as I do not have a lot of money to spend and need every feature you can imagine, I'm a software developer I need it all.

Step one research I don't even know what web hosting companies are out there I have an idea, GoDaddy, 1and1... See I already ran out, what's that say. I need to do a Google search that's what.

But before I do that let me lay down my hosting requirements this way I won't go back and forth between a Linux host and a windows host. Actually never mind I like nopCommerce, they write good, easy to read code and not to mention they don't charge anything for it. No special payment provider component needed to make sales no nothing or at least as I write this they don't.

Alright enough with the blah blah, where's the best of the best web hosting ecommerce site list OK here goes.

Ahh, one thing I didn't think of when I started writing this is that I need to know what my payment provider is going to be.

I'll come back to this once I made a decision.

If you can read this I never finished the article but meant to before releasing it. drop me a line I'll pick it back up.  I'm tired.

A Simple Public Help Button

by Jeff 25. April 2009 17:22

The idea is simple, a public help button that can be used by any application developer giving there application a way of displaying help or infomation to there users.

First let me define the problem, it seems to be a public problem as well.

So many applications public, open source or even commercial apps don't have help/information systems in their application.  I'm even to blame I don't have help notes in most of my apps. It's not that I don't want too; it's just that I add them as the need arises, obviously this is a problem. More...

Kobe Starter Kit when will it be released

by Jeff 21. April 2009 18:51

... and the dreams contine.

Kobe Starter Kit sounds very interesting, pulled the following off the kobe home page

Project Kobe is a getting started resource kit for planning, architecting, and implementing Web 2.0 applications and services using the Microsoft Platform. This resource kit is targeted toward technology decision makers, hands-on solution architects, development managers, and developers in the aspiring web startups community and in enterprises and businesses looking to invest in new Web 2.0 application/service development projects

That just sounds great and I can't wait.

I went searching today and found a great post on "Project Kobe community feedback" and I wish this was on the project home page at at microsoft things would have made a little more sense.

by Jeff 18. April 2009 10:07

I've enjoined following Omar's Dropthings project he is very generous to release an open source project like this and as far as I know it's the only asp.net open source start page of it's kind.

Now that he's done an overhaul I'm going to take another look at it and see what he's done.

I learned a great deal from the first version can't wait to see what's new.

Check out his book here

Read more about the overhaul here

by Jeff 17. April 2009 22:46

Excitement then disapointment... they took kobe off line and I don't think that was necessary, maybe a warning but not offline.

The Kobe project sounds like a dream come true. I stumbled across it in the asp.net downloads section followed the link watched a few videos and that's it... I'm so unsatisfied.

The Kobe project is a getting started resource kit for planning, architecting, and implementing Web 2.0 applications and services using the Microsoft Platform.
